Tour to the Pushkin museum
The Pushkin museum, or the full name is The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, is the biggest art museum of European and World’s art in Russia. It was founded in 1912 The museum’s collection consists of 560 thousands items of paintings, sculptures, graphic arts, arts and crafts, monuments of archeology and coins. The main building of museum was constructed by R.I. Kleiman in eclectic style and the building itself is a piece of architectural art. Every hall of the museum is dedicated to a particular time and built according to the style of this epoch. There are Egyptian, Ancient Greek’s, Ancient Rome, Renaissance halls.
Painting collection has a special place in Pushkin museum of Fine Arts.
Byzantine icons are the oldest items of art collection. You can also see works of Cranach, Botticelli, Poussin and many-many others. Many of these art works were transferred from Dresden gallery after Second World War.
Paintings of Van Gough, Renoir, Monet, Degas, Matisse, Cezanne and Picasso present Western-European and American art of 19-20 centuries.
